Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

Dermal filler has become an increasing popular procedure with well known celebrities such as the Kardashians and multiple reality stars embracing and flaunting their newly enhanced lips. Dermal filler is formed in a gel substance, made up of hyaluronic acid which is naturally found in the body. Hyaluronic acid gives our skin elasticity and plumpness, over time our bodies break down the hyaluronic acid which results in wrinkles, fine lines and ageing. Dermal filler is used to redefine and regain volume in these areas. In the lips dermal filler can create definition and volume which gives a younger appearance. Other areas we can treat are smile lines, otherwise known as our nasolabial folds. These are the lines that run from our nose to the corners of our mouth. Other areas include marionette lines which are the line from the corners of the mouth to the chin area. Smokers lines found at the top of the lip and individual lines.

How long does the product last?
As hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body, our metabolism naturally breaks down the product over time.
Results will usually last 6-12 months.

Will I have swelling and bruising after the treatment?
Due to this treatment being dispensed with a needle into a sensitive area in the lip, it is completely normal to experience bruising and swelling. The degree of swelling and bruising will differ from person to person. Some people experience very little swelling and bruising, whereas others have noticeable swelling. Noticeable swelling will subside within a couple of days and bruising should subside within a week to 10 days. We recommend witch hazel or arnica in the form tablets or cream to help with the bruising and applying a cold compress (if using ice, wrap in a towel or fabric before applying to the lip!) for swelling.
